Relieving Chronic Neck Pain

Many clients suffer chronic neck pain for many reasons:

  • Whiplash from car wrecks and falls
  • Poor posture at work
  • Degenerative arthritis
  • Surgical repairs and fusions

This class addresses chronic neck pain and the importance of making informed choices regarding treatment of clients in pain.

This 6-hour course will offer:

  • Anatomy and Physiology of the upper shoulders, head and neck
  • Current theories of pain and its effects
  • Indications and Contraindications for treatment
  • Informed choices about appropriate techniques for your client
  • Hands on instruction with adaptations of techniques for pain relief
  • Basic routine for treating chronic pain in the neck

What to bring to class:

Bring basic Swedish massage supplies for this class—sheets, blanket, face cradle cover, bolster, etc.

Madeline Brock, LMT, MTI, CLT, has been in massage practice since 1999, and teaching since 2002. She is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) from the Academy of Lymphatic Studies (ACOLS). Her training also includes Myofascial Release, Structural Integration, Repetitive Use Injury Therapy, and Oncology Massage.
