Spa Techniques to Include in Your Practice

Taught by Diane Henderson, LMT, MTI & Licensed Esthetician

There has never been a better time for therapists to promote the use of spa therapies. The ability to deliver exceptional and satisfying spa treatments is a special skill for which massage therapists are particularly well suited. Spa treatments today are a multi-layered, multi-textured work that combines many elements in a treatment. They are fun to deliver and offer the therapist a creative outlet. Knowledge of spa treatments not only allows massage therapists to offer their clients more options, it gives a competitive advantage if seeking work in the spa industry.

We will discuss the growing spa industry and learn the following:

  • Basic Dry Room Equipment
  • Hot Towel Heating Unit
  • Paraffin Dips
  • Body Wrap materials
  • Sanitation Protocols
  • Basic Documentation
  • Contraindications
  • Spa Product Basics
  • Spa draping
  • Exfoliation treatments
  • Body Wraps

We will explore the world of spa techniques and begin the class with a warm foot soak and clay foot wrap. The class includes making an exfoliating sea salt scrub and a Calcium Bentonite Clay body wrap. We will be applying the products and you will leave at the end of the day feeling rejuvenated.
