Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of essential oils (plant aromatics) to benefit a personís health and healing. Scents can deeply influence a personít quality of life and can enhance or hinder a personís health and wellbeing. Understanding how essential oils can affect the individualís brain and body is essential to getting the most benefit from the use of essential oils.
This one day introduction to essential oils and their use in massage therapy provides a basic understanding of utilizing essential oils in massage. The course include beneficial information on the history, chemical structure, medicinal uses and effects, indications and contra-indications and methods of application. Essential oils can easily be incorporated into your massage practice while providing a valuable service to your clients.

Michelle Burns has been a massage therapist since 1992 and has focused her practice on working with medically compromised clients. Prior to becoming a massage therapist, she worked as a registered nurse and later, as a health recovery specialist. Michelle has studied with numerous well known therapists as well as body physiology specialists to provide her the tools to make a difference. She has been teaching for over 10 years and her classes are full of information and opportunities to explore. She currently has a massage and health recovery consulting business in Austin.
